Welcome to Premedical Career Pathway Research (P.C.P.R.)

While the premedical career pathway can be overwhelming and challenging, the journey of pursuing a career in medicine can be greatly rewarding.  The key is to understand the "system" well, and then create your own path to best navigate this system.

A group of us in Student Clinical Opportunities for Premedical Experience (S.C.O.P.E.) realized that there is no single "Premed Online Resource" to obtain current information on the different topics surrounding the premedical process and medical career.

Mission Statement

We aim to establish a central receptacle of material to inform premedical students of the premedical process - from academic to laboratory research, to clinical and international health experience, to the medical school application process, to deciding a medical specialty.

We aim to:

  • Educate students in the realities of medical careers by exploring economics, politics, academics, current events, and lifestyle as they relate to medicine.
  • Provide students with the educational tools to make informed decisions about future career paths, especially regarding the pursuit of a career in medicine.
  • Expel pre-med myths developed during undergraduate education with updated facts from credible sources.
  • Promote the maximization of students' potential and time through early exposure to medical internships and opportunities for self-reflection in order to make conscious decisions about pursuit of a career in medicine relative to life goals.
